Shalom Baptist Church stands on the Word of God as our authority for faith, our guide through life, and our hope for eternity. Forty Jewish sages transcribed God’s inspired Word for us, and we thank the Nation of Israel for giving us the Bible. Our desire is to be a blessing by offering a free copy of the Word of God to all people. Through the Tanach (the Hebrew Bible, also known as the Old Testament), God tells the story of the origin of mankind and the history of the Jewish people, but also gives many promises. One of those that we are celebrating is the promise of Jeremiah 31:31, “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a NEW COVENANT with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.” Jeremiah 31:31
We are meeting at: 97-40 64th Ave. Rego Park, NY 11374, (YLC Adult Daycare)
We are a church that believes that the Bible is God’s Holy Word. We use the King James Version of the Bible in all of our preaching and teaching ministries. It is the center of our ministry. We use the name Baptist because it links us to a group of people who down through the ages have held to a simple belief that what the Bible says is true. Our church offers no mystical experiences, just real Bible answers for life’s greatest questions.
In 2015 Union Baptist Church had a decision to make. The City of New York had closed the church and locked them out of the building with an ultimatum: spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to fix the building or close permanently. After much prayer, it was decided to elect new leaders to pastor the church and set the church on a course towards restoration and revival. Hundreds of Baptist churches from around the country answered the call with funds and workers to save our historic church. Working closely with the City of New York and the NYC Landmarks Department, Union Baptist Church reopened its doors in 2017 after two years of emergency construction. The church is now open today as a vibrate, gospel-preaching church in Greenpoint’s Historic District.
We are a small house church based in the heart of New York City. We may be tiny compared some mega churches, but we have a big outreach for souls at our ministry located in the subway tunnels of Times Square 42nd St. We believe in the King James Bible!
